Introduction
East Central University has empowered students to understand and transform our world for more than 100 years. Since its foundation in 1909 as one of the state’s first schools for the training of teachers, the university has inspired hundreds of thousands of students, including four United States governors and varied Chickasaw and Choctaw governors and officials.
Today, East Central University is recognized as Oklahoma’s premier student-centered regional university. Educating more than 4,000 students each semester, the university provides course options on its campus in Ada, Oklahoma, which spans 135 acres and 37 buildings, at the Eastern Oklahoma State College campus in McAlester and now conveniently online.
