School of Communication
In these days, we are highly communicated and connected to one another through different platforms: media, social networks and mobile devices linking us 24 hours a day to people across the globe.
The Duoc UC School of Communication imparts a wide range of studies that will transform students into highly trained professionals that can understand and implement communications in their different languages and forms of expression.
Audio Engineering
Audio Engineers are qualified to work in:
- Recording Studios. As a Recording and mixing engineer, designing and directing the process of recording and mixing music production.
- Audiovisual productions. Sound Engineers will perform, direct and capture live sound and field environments.
- Audio post-production. As audio post-producer, they will direct the recording of speech and foley, synchronizing audio and image, and integrating and creatively proposing music and sound environments.
- TV channels. As an Audio Engineer, they will perform tasks associated to electro-acoustic design and recording, mixing and audio post-production for programs.
- Radio. As a sound control and post-producer, they will be responsible for recording and broadcasting of programs and creating an auditory identity for the station or program.
- Sound Reinforcement Companies. As Audio Engineers they will work designing and operating amplification systems for fixed or temporary installations.
- Production of events and shows. They will be able to work as Audio Engineers and Technical Coordinators, integrating and controlling the areas of sound, lighting, stage, power and backline equipment.
- Acoustic Solution Companies. As Audio Engineers, they can design acoustic solutions in the areas of conditioning and soundproofing.
- Professional Title: Audio Engineer.
- Technical Title: Sound Technician.
How to apply
First, check that your home university or polytechnic institute has an ongoing exchange agreement with Duoc UC.
Thoroughly research your prospective courses. Most of our programs are in Spanish; therefore make sure you have sufficient proficiency in this language for your classes. We do offer a free 44-hour Spanish course for all non-native Spanish speakers, but in order to successfully complete your courses, we advise at least an intermediate Spanish level.
For non-Spanish speakers, Duoc UC also offers the Tourism and Hospitality Program, fully taught in English

Please bear in mind that after receiving your documentation it can take up to a month for us to process it and send you an answer, due to a large amount of documentation we receive during the admission periods.
Application deadlines
15 August– 15 October*: application for the first semester, March – July term
15 February – 15 April*: application for the second semester, August – December term
*We advise students with Chinese nationality to apply as soon as the application period begins since the visa procedure can take up to six months.
Acceptance letter
A month after the application period ends, students will be informed via e-mail whether they have been accepted or not. In the case of being accepted, a hard copy of the acceptance letter will be sent to the International Student Officer of the student’s home institution.
