Boyce College
Introduction
Love God. Love Neighbor.
Boyce College stands on the gospel and has since its founding. Our faculty's commitment to the Bible and to cultural engagement, along with our vibrant student life culture and academic programs, will equip students for faithfulness in all of life.
Convictional
Boyce College derives its name from James P. Boyce, founder and first president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to being a Southern Baptist statesman, Boyce sought to innovate the world of theological education by making it more convictional, rigorous, and accessible. This vision for theological education that is biblically orthodox, academically challenging, and widely attainable, though articulated over 150 years ago, lives on through the leadership of R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Seminary and Boyce College.
Today’s Christian college students and graduates will face challenges that previous generations could not have imagined. Under Mohler’s leadership, Boyce College is in a position to train students who will serve the church and engage the culture from a convictional and biblical worldview, regardless of the challenges before them.
Beliefs
Boyce College stands on the confessional vision articulated by the founding faculty in the Abstract of Principles and on the Baptist Faith and Message.
Denominational Affiliation
Southern Seminary is an agency of the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition to providing substantial financial support to the seminary, the Convention also elects the Board of Trustees of the seminary.
Accreditation
Southern Seminary is a private not-for-profit institution accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada.

Rigorous
Boyce College boasts a well-published faculty that is on the frontlines of evangelical scholarship, cultural engagement, and local church leadership. The same rigor they display in their own scholarship comes through in each class they teach. Being a confessional institution, Boyce is able to fill a niche among Christian colleges by being a seminary-based institution that holds fast to its convictions.
Accessible
At Boyce College, students can access quality education in a variety of formats, like on-campus studies, Boyce Online, Seminary Track, dual enrollment, and more. These formats prepare students from all educational backgrounds to stand on the Word of God in the ministry or vocation to which God has called them.
An important aspect for all of Boyce’s degree programs and formats is the community, which is not just the context for the curriculum, but part of the curriculum itself. Students at Boyce College live, worship, and grow in community with one another, giving them access to all sorts of opportunities for learning and development.
Mission
Boyce College is the undergraduate school of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. As such, it functions under the mission statement of Southern Seminary:
Under the lordship of Jesus Christ, the mission of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary is to be totally committed to the Bible as the Word of God, to the Great Commission as our mandate, and to be a servant of the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention by training, educating, and preparing ministers of the gospel for more faithful service.
Within the mission of Southern Seminary, the purpose of Boyce College is to conduct undergraduate programs in biblical studies to prepare students for the task of Great Commission ministry in local churches, as well as in the agencies and institutions of the Southern Baptist Convention.
The seminary utilizes evangelical scholarship with reverent dependence upon the guidance of the Holy Spirit who witnesses to the truth of the Holy Scriptures. The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, under the governance of its Board of Trustees, conducts its programs in an environment of spiritual nurture for the development of Christian leaders, including lay leaders, for the various ministries of the churches and the denomination. The programs of the seminary focus on the development of ministerial competencies at the pre-baccalaureate, baccalaureate, professional post-baccalaureate, professional doctoral, and research doctoral levels.
