On Binghamton University’s main campus, you can find interactive classroom spaces, laboratories, a trading room where students invest real money, a museum, and more! International applicants are considered those who intend to come to the university on an F-1 or J-1 student visa. We work closely with you to provide you with the information and documents you need to apply for your student visa.
Binghamton University has a limited number of scholarships available for first-year students, including international students. All applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. Scholarships may range from $3,500-$10,000. While International students are not eligible for federal/state funding, international students can apply for private scholarships that are available to them in their upperclassmen years.

As I was searching through different options, Binghamton matched everything I have looked for in a university. It is a big campus, with a lot of students - serving me with the right kind of multinational exposure. The people here are very sweet and helpful. What I like most is how welcoming the staff and teachers are. All my professors have been very kind and understanding. The professors even reached out to me asking about my mental health, as they knew as an international student, things would be difficult for me. It makes me miss my home a lot less than I thought, which means a lot to me.
Htoo Tint San Wai (Accounting and Management Information Systems (MIS), ’24):
I like the fact that the School of Management in particular provides several opportunities and resources to network and find a career in a field that is directly related to my major. I am also a member of the Accounting Association, through which I was given numerous opportunities to network with industry professionals and learn about their career journey.
The faculty member who had the most impact for me was my Financial Accounting professor. Because of his enthusiasm and his intimate knowledge of the subject, I was able to learn a lot and remember many of the accounting principles to this day.
I love that Binghamton provides tons of opportunities for students to be involved in the community via volunteer opportunities at local organizations through its CCE (Center for Civic Engagement). I am on the fundraising chair of China Care Club, a non-profit student organization that fundraises money for orphans in China, especially for their medical bills and living expenses, through sticker sale, bake sale etc. Furthermore, I am a student ambassador, and through the program, I was able to learn more about Binghamton University’s history and its community. I am currently a volunteer for the Dean of Students Team. With several other students, we brainstorm ideas for events for the student body and we are also responsible for setting up and taking down events. I love doing all of these.
Lun Nuam (Biological Sciences and Chemistry, ‘27):
I enjoy all the opportunities provided by Binghamton and have learned a lot from them. I got to participate in events hosted by the resourceful departments, such as a faculty mixer and a networking event. I also am involved in a club called the Physics Outreach Project and I volunteer at the Children Ministries in Grace Point Church. I ultimately feel ready to enter the lab and conduct research given the resources provided here.
