If music production is your passion, then the BA (Hons) Music and Sound Production course meets the needs of students who seek a career in the audio production industry.
This course is available at BIMM Music Institute in the UK (Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, London, Manchester).
Our BA (Hons) Music and Sound Production course gives you the chance to create music and sound in a variety of contexts. It fundamentally allows you to pursue a fulfilling career in a range of music industry roles.
The course will provide you with everything you need to bring your technical knowledge and creativity to live and studio settings. You’ll also know the fundamentals required to work with artists.
During the course, you will undertake hands-on learning in our high-tech facilities and have direct access to cutting-edge equipment and software. World-class industry lecturers who know the ins and outs of the creative process will be with you every step of the way, offering direction and support.
Bimm Brighton Music production Sound Desk
Through the core modules, you’ll focus on primary areas such as audio fundamentals, music production in context, practical studio engineering and software skills, application of acoustic theory, and approaches to answering professional briefs. Alongside developing your technical knowledge, you’ll broaden your general knowledge of the industry, helping you to identify your place within it.
You’ll build the necessary skills and understanding you need to become a successful music producer, with a sustainable career in the music industry.
You will also have the opportunity to choose modules. These optional modules will help you to focus your studies and create the career route that’s right for you. The options you choose can help you forge a successful career in a range of music-based industries. These include the recording industry, the live music industry, the film and TV industry, the audio postproduction industry, and the education industry.

Early Confirmation Discount
An early confirmation discount for study in the UK of £2,000 or €2,000 for study in Germany or Ireland for each year of study is available to all international students ineligible for home (domestic) fees who have an offer to study with us at any of our campuses in the UK, Germany or Ireland.
Discount eligibility
To be eligible for the Early Confirmation Discount, you must:
- Be an overseas applicant ineligible for home (domestic) fees
- Apply and receive an offer to study a BIMM University course
- Accept your offer
- Pay your deposit, if applicable, by the deadline of 15th June 2024
- The scholarship will automatically be deducted from your fees when you enroll.
This discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount, offer, or scholarship.
Future Talent Scholarship
Launching for September 2024 entry, the new Future Talent Scholarships provide a full 3-year tuition fee for undergraduate students studying courses in music, film, acting, or creative technology. These scholarships are aimed at candidates from low-income households and/or groups under-represented in the creative industries. We are looking to support those who demonstrate talent in their chosen discipline, strong creative potential, and a high motivation for a career in the creative industries.
The scholarship offers financial support, a supportive training environment, and a skills and career development program designed to support progression to future careers in the creative industries.

Progression
Graduates can progress directly to employment in the music industry in roles such as a Producer, Sound Engineer, Programmer, Front House Engineer, Monitor Engineer, Drum Technician, Guitar Technician, Backline Technician, Roadie, Sound Designer, Foley Artist, or Location Sound Recordist.
