BSc in Software Engineering

Over the past few years, because of the growing use of computers in every aspect of society, the need for qualified software engineers has grown drastically. Consequently, the Department of Software Engineering was established in 2005 and is currently one of the nine departments in Turkey offering undergraduate degrees in this domain. In our department, along with the basic phases of a software life cycle (analysis, design, implementation, etc.) and related methodologies, various specialized topics such as Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Quality Assurance, Software Requirements Engineering, Database Systems, Software Design and Architecture, Software Project Management, Software Testing and Service-Oriented Architecture and Workflow Management are covered. As a result, it is aimed to graduate distinguished and qualified software engineers who are able to design and develop high-quality, reliable, high-performance software, which is easy to use, operate and maintain that can be easily integrated to other systems.

According to the requirements of the software sector, the curriculum of the department aims at graduating engineers who can work in any phase of large-scale software development. The hardware and software laboratories in the department include different hardware components and software tools, and therefore, enable the students to use state-of-the-art software technologies and resources.

Mission

The mission of our department is to educate students to become qualified individuals who are capable of generating effective solutions by using engineering approaches in the software life-cycle and provide new direction to the field of software engineering with academic research.
