In keeping with labor market demands for highly trained IT experts, Aspira University College launches a Computer Engineering degree specializing in Software Engineering. The IT industry is on course to become the main driving force of business development, especially through increased export of goods and services that characterizes IT.

The Computer Engineering degree program is created in collaboration with experts and employers. The student will have the opportunity to learn the most relevant software development techniques. This degree program is unique through the participation of experts and employers and a hands-on approach. It is based on business applications of computer technologies and as such guarantees employment.

Duration

The degree program takes place over 3 years (6 semesters) in either full-time or part-time study. A successful course of study in accordance with the Bologna Process will lead to 180 or more ECTS points and the professional title:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

Guest lecturers are a frequent part of the study program, in order for students to fully grasp their future occupation as well as the various challenges facing the IT sector today. The many experiences of visiting lecturers will jointly form a vision of a student’s future career.

Admission Procedure

To The Undergraduate And Graduate Study Programs In English

I. Application requirements:

Following candidates may apply for the Undergraduate Study:

  • 3 or 4-year secondary education completed (general or vocational)
  • Proficient in the English language: TOEFL (min. score 500) or IELTS (min. score 5.0)

Following candidates may apply for the Graduate Study:

  • Undergraduate study completed (Bachelor degree holders)
  • Proficient in the English language: TOEFL (min. score 500) or IELTS (min. score 5.0)

II.The steps of the application process:

Step 1: Applicant completes the application form

Step 2: Applicant e-mails the following scanned documents (in PDF, JPEG, Ms Word or OpenDocument format):

  • 1. Passport copy
  • 2. Certificate of citizenship or appropriate proof of citizenship (ID card copy)
  • 3A. Educational documents for Undergraduate Study:
    • 1. diplomas of last 4 years of education with transcript of records (in English Language) certified by an authorized institution
    • 2. diplomas of completed secondary level of education in English language, certified by an authorized institution
  • 3B. Educational documents for Graduate Study:
    • 1. Undergraduate diploma (bachelor's degree) in the original language
    • 2. Undergraduate diploma (bachelor's degree) in English or Croatian, certified by an authorized institution
    • 3. Transcript of records in English or Croatian, certified by an authorized institution

The required documents should be sent by e-mail to the International Relations Office at [email protected]

Step 3: After reviewing the application, within 3 working days, ASPIRA arranges the admission test interview with the applicant via Zoom. The purpose of the interview is to discuss competencies, skills and motivation for the study.

Step 4: Following the successful interview, within 3 working days, ASPIRA will e-mail Conditional Offer Letter to the applicant, stating that he has been accepted to the study program on the condition that:

  • 1. Applicant sends Originals of all required documents, by DHL or post for foreign qualification cess.
  • 2. Applicant sends Proof of payment for the recognition procedure in the amount of 300 EUR (bank charges not included)

Step 5: For Undergraduate Study, ASPIRA coordinates diploma recognition procedure with the appropriate government agencies.

ASPIRA will send all educational documents of applicants to:

  • a) Education and Teacher Training Agency – recognition of qualifications attesting the completion of general secondary education.
  • b) Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Adult Education – recognition of qualifications attesting the completion of vocational secondary school programs.

For Graduate Study, recognition procedure for is done by ASPIRA in cooperation with the Agency for Science and Higher Education. The procedure consists of:

  • Application for the academic recognition of foreign higher education qualification
  • Diploma validation
  • Cost of DHL in case applicant is rejected after the recognition procedure or visa procedure

Step 6: ASPIRA sends an official Letter of Acceptance by DHL or post

  • Agencies can take up to 30 days to process the documents, so the student can expect to receive a letter (or information on the denial of acceptance) within 20-40 days
  • Note: the fee for recognition procedure (200 EUR) is non-refundable.

Step 7: Student signs a Letter of Guarantee.

  • ASPIRA will ask the student to sign a Letter of Guarantee, which states that the student is obliged to pay the tuition fee immediately (within 5 working days) of visa approval.

Step 8: Student applies for a visa

Mandatory documents required by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

  • valid travel document (the validity period of the travel document should exceed that of the visa by three months, travel document must be issued in the previous 10 years, travel document must contain at least two empty pages for the visa)
  • a 35x45 mm color photo
  • evidence of travel health insurance
  • evidence of paid visa fee
  • documents that prove:
    • the purpose of the stay in Croatia – ASPIRA's Letter of Acceptance
    • ensured accommodation
    • means of subsistence to cover the stay in Croatia and the return to the country of origin or a third country
    • means of transport and the intention to return to the applicant's country of origin or a third country

Additional documentation (depends on the country):

  • Travel insurance
  • Additional medical tests

Step 9: If the visa is approved, the student sends a copy of the visa to ASPIRA and pays the annual tuition fee.

Step 10: Upon arrival, the student is required to visit the Students Office not later than two (2) days before the classes start and submit the following documentation:

  • two photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm)
  • passport and visa copy
  • the enrolment fee for the graduate study - 30 €, payable at the Students Office or online
  • signed agreement University – Student (as prepared by the Student's Office).

III. Duration of study:

The Undergraduate Study (Bachelors) lasts for 3 years (6 semesters). Upon completion, graduates acquire, according to the provisions of the Bologna Process, 180 ECTS credits.

The Graduate Study (Masters) lasts for 2 years (4 semesters). Upon completion, graduates acquire, according to the provisions of the Bologna Process, 120 ECTS credits.

The academic year is divided into two semesters: October to March (Winter Term) and March to July (Summer Term), with no academic activity from mid-July to mid-September.

IV. Student intake and application submission:

There are 2 (two) intakes of students per academic year – Summer Term (March start) and Winter Term (October start)

Deadline for application submissions:

  • For Summer Term – 1st December
  • For Winter Term – 1st May

Only applications that are received within the above-mentioned deadline will be considered valid for evaluation.
