Introduction
Arizona Christian University offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS). The IDS degree programs present the opportunity for students to work with their academic advisors to design a course of study to meet their specific vocational and intellectual goals. The students complete ACU’s CORE, four IDS core courses that support the development of critical thinking, research evaluation, and effective communication, and two minor programs chosen from 32+ options. Additionally, the program allows for the completion of a third minor, or a student-selected series of elective courses to complete the IDS program.
Program Outcome
Why Interdisciplinary Studies at ACU?
In addition to the application of specific disciplines to related occupations, the IDS degree provides unique opportunities for graduates to practice across disciplines, synthesize diverse ideas, and work in highly collaborative settings.
Students will be able to:
- Demonstrate holistic, critical, logical, and creative thinking through reading, speaking, and writing (print and online) while integrating a biblical worldview.
- Investigate and synthesize constructs and processes from diverse academic disciplines.
- Describe and evaluate major historical and contemporary human ideas, ethical systems, and philosophies.
- Examine and experience career opportunities related to their chosen academic disciplines.
- Evaluate discipline-specific research literature and produce original research and arguments.
