Introduction
The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, Society and Culture: Arts and Culture is a 3-year, internationally accredited program offering a modern and interdisciplinary education in the arts and the role of cultural production in society. You will earn a globally recognized American and European B.A. degree.
The B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Arts and Society concentration is designed for students interested in the arts and the role of cultural production in society, encompassing the study of art in all of its aspects: philosophical, practical, and historical.
The concentration explores the multiple ways art functions within and relates to different communities, cultures, and constituent audiences. This is a concentration for students interested in arts administration and facilitating artistic and creative projects in education and communities.
Beyond the classroom, you can also join student clubs like Model UN and Film Club, discuss current political issues with professors and local experts at an event like ‘Professors in the Pub’ or stop by one of our movie nights or poetry readings in the Library featuring professors and internationally published authors.
AAU’s Career Center also connects students with numerous professional internships in the Czech Republic and abroad every year.
The Bachelor’s degree awarded is concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, per AAU’s accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and as a Bakalář (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, per AAU’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.
This concentration is accredited by the Academic Council of Anglo-American University. Its completion will be indicated on the transcript and diploma supplement.

The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, Society, and Culture is a 3-year study program. To graduate, students must accumulate 90 US credits (180 ECTS credits) by completing 30 courses.

Program Outcome
Graduates of the B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Arts and Society can expect to:
- Demonstrate broad knowledge of ideas & issues across the fields of art, literature, film, philosophy, religion, history, politics & sociology, anthropology, and psychology; demonstrate a broad knowledge of the theories, methods, and concepts in these areas.
- Use appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods, concepts and theories
- Address and solve moderately complex theoretical and practical issues and problems in changing contexts
- Effectively communicate issues, problems, or dilemmas and their solutions
- Take effective and responsible action both individually and within a team

- Cultural Management: Overseeing programs and initiatives in art institutions, coordinating events and exhibitions, and developing outreach activities.
- Arts Reporting: Writing and presenting on arts and culture for print and digital media, using your knowledge of art history and its societal context.
- Diplomacy: Using your understanding of international cultures and arts to bridge understanding between nations in diplomatic roles.
- Humanitarian Government or Nonprofit Roles: Managing and coordinating arts-focused initiatives in governmental or non-governmental organizations, often with a focus on using arts for social engagement or therapeutic purposes.
- Education: Teaching or coordinating arts education in schools or community centers, leveraging your knowledge of how art and society intersect.
- Social Research and Publishing: Conducting research on arts and societal trends, or working in publishing roles focused on arts and culture.
