Emphases

As an economics and management major, you’ll have the opportunity to select an emphasis catered to your intended career path. Explore the human relations aspects of management or take a focused group of courses designed to prepare you for a world in which global concerns are becoming more important.

Human Resources Emphasis

Learn more about how people power organizations. Through a human resources emphasis, you’ll study topics like negotiation and dispute resolution, social psychology, labor economics, women in business and leadership, and many more.

International Business and International Economics Emphasis

Prepare to work and lead in an increasingly connected world. Study the economies of other countries, like China and Japan. Take courses in international management, finance, and trade. As part of this emphasis, you’ll also study or intern in another country.

Student Organizations

Take your learning outside the classroom with fellow economics and management students. You can join our Investment Club, where you’ll manage a real stock portfolio; Delta Sigma Pi, our co-ed business fraternity; Omicron Delta Epsilon, our economics honor society; and more.

Gerstacker Institute

The Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management admits a class of 35-40 Albion students each year to its leadership development program. The program features required internships and training in networking, resume building, business etiquette, employer site visits, and more. You’ll also have the opportunity to complete an international business project with students in France.

As an economics and management major, you’re a perfect candidate to take advantage of Albion’s many off-campus opportunities. Learn how a company or industry you’re interested in really works by interning through The Philadelphia Center or experiencing a foreign economy firsthand by studying abroad.

What Will You Learn as an Economics and Management Major?

You’ll learn how markets work and you’ll develop knowledge in both microeconomics and macroeconomics.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of financial accounting, supplemented with coursework in algebra and statistics.

You’ll choose elective economics and management courses in whatever topics interest you most, including marketing, health economics, taxation, consumer behavior, and many more.

If you choose to major in another discipline, you can pursue a minor in management where you’ll learn the core principles of microeconomics, financial accounting, management, and organizational behavior.
