Introduction
Are you ready for tomorrow’s world?
We live in a global world where economic opportunities abound beyond national borders. In a fast-changing world, we live in an era when information is critical to our cultures and economies. We want to prepare you for this ever-changing world. That is why we bring tomorrow’s reality into our university and demonstrate how you can participate in it. We think that succeeding in tomorrow’s world involves three fundamental interlinked competencies: the ability to navigate internationally and interculturally, the ability to comprehend and influence tomorrow’s most pressing challenges, and the ability to effectively collaborate.
International Business Management
Globalisation has opened up exciting career prospects for people who understand business from an international, cross-cultural perspective. The BSc (Hons) in International Business Management is designed to help you make the most of those opportunities. The business has transcended traditional borders in the twenty-first century, and one of the most important things to recognise in this era of globalisation is that business is performed differently in different cultures, and in different parts of the world. Students who earn a degree in international business management are prepared to succeed in a complex and constantly changing international business environment.
Designed for the future
The BSc (Hons) International Business Management undergraduate programme at the University of Derby is a specialist degree programme designed to develop deep knowledge of markets, business and organisations in an international context. It also develops knowledge and capabilities in applied economic analysis alongside enhancing personal and employment skills appropriate for a career in international business or management.
Events such as the global financial crisis of 2008-09 and developments such as Brexit and the COVID-19 global pandemic have led to a wider and growing interest in the subject area of international business, management, logistics, finance and applied economics. They have highlighted the importance of understanding real-world economic and business problems in a holistic manner and of being able to assess their impact within organisations and present coherent solutions and strategies. We offer you a programme designed to help you make robust disciplinary links between theoretical frameworks and the practicalities of the global world, and become successful in a complex and dynamic environment.

Our programme focuses on international business from all its major aspects, expanding the disciplinary focus of a degree for students in pursuit of a career in global business.
