This programme is focused on the study of analytical skills based on mathematics, statistics and computing, applying them to the management, analysis of data, and the discovery of lawfulness from huge data sets or systems, now generally referred to as Big Data. Students should manage massive data and help make appropriate decisions upon successful completion of the programme.

Financial Technologies (FinTech) refers to the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in financial services. It is a newly emerging interdisciplinary area with a very high impact on the economy of every society. We are living in a complex world in which matters are interconnected.

Hong Kong Studies is an interdisciplinary programme to give students a broad-based education on Hong Kong—its society, culture, creative industries, economy, politics, history and environment. The programme combines the perspectives and curricular strengths of various disciplines, including literature, art history, history, sociology, politics, economics, journalism and communications.

Students in this curriculum may choose to major in one of the six core disciplines: China Studies, Geography, Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Policy and Social Development, and Sociology.

The Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies [BA(US)] is an interdisciplinary, studio-based and professionally oriented programme offered by the Department of Urban Planning and Design. It is designed to equip you with a wide range of knowledge about cities and city systems that provides an essential basis for various urban professions.

This programme (Year 1 entry) aims to educate degree students to qualify for registered social workers with attributes of being practical and open-minded. This degree also cultivates generalist practitioners in social work, providing services to people with different needs and promoting social development.

The programme provides students with a rigorous understanding of the principles, practices and ethics involved in construction management in a worldwide context up to Bachelor’s degree standard.

The industry-recognised qualification provides academic preparation for a career as a Chartered Surveyor. Building Surveying is a growing, international, professional discipline dealing with the inspection, maintenance and refurbishment of existing buildings.

Launched in 2012, the four-year BFA (Honours) Degree in Drama programme is structured to produce professional practitioners with a vision of the arts in society and a concern for their importance, relevance and development. The aim of the BRE Scheme is to provide an academic platform to develop students’ knowledge, skills, and abilities in the fields of building and real estate through the experience of real-world methods and practices. Graduates possess intellectual, vocational, and practical skills relevant to building and real estate and demonstrate independent thinking, curiosity, confidence, and professionalism.

The overall aim of the programme is to train competent professionals for the fashion business, equipping them to work in textiles, apparel, retailing, design, and related organisations. Graduates play an active role in the development of the global fashion and textiles industry in local and overseas markets. In addition to cultivating students’ professional competencies, the programme enhances their other essential competencies, such as entrepreneurship, social media marketing, and business analytics. This expands graduates’ skillsets to meet the needs of today’s business environment.

Programmes offered under this Scheme share some common subjects. There should be no fewer than 27 common credits in the first three semesters (excluding summer terms). Students are expected to have chosen a specific Major from the Scheme’s programmes by the end of semester 1 of Year 2. After successfully completing the four-year programme, students are awarded a degree in their selected major programme.

This professional programme is designed to provide students with a broad-based and high-quality interdisciplinary education in the areas of structural, environmental, transportation, hydraulic and geotechnical engineering as well as construction management. It aims to nurture students as all-round civil engineers who are ready to work on engineering projects with commercial, social, legal and political complexities.

The rapid advances of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have far-reaching impacts on our lives, ranging from mobile apps, smart home systems and health-monitoring devices to industrial process optimisation. AI is intimately linked to physics in various ways, and seamless collaboration between physics and AI enables accurate observations of the environment and the realistic formulation of solutions. Physics principles can be deployed to optimise AI components, facilitating the discoveries of critical workflows and parameters, as well as enhancing the training of AI systems. Conversely, AI plays a pivotal role in modern physics research by rapidly screening potential solutions, thereby saving resources needed for experimental studies.
