The purpose of the BCom Hons in Industrial Psychology is to empower students to acquire knowledge and develop an understanding of industrial psychology as an applied science that focuses on human behavior in the context of work. Industrial psychology entails the application of psychological theories, principles, and practices to optimize individual, group, and organizational well-being and effectiveness.

The Honours in Psychology program is offered on a full-time basis only. The students are required to complete six modules within a one-year period. The research component is the only compulsory module and runs for the full year, as such this module counts as two modules.

The aim of this programme is to educate students in the theory and practice of psychology and counseling, with a focus on personal development, family studies and broader mental health interventions. The programme helps students develop an integrated and relevant counseling praxis within the South African context. It also prepares students for further studies in psychology and trains them in foundational social research skills. During their first year, the students will also take the foundational set of modules, referred to as the ‘Cornerstone Core’. These include History, Sociology, Ethics, Philosophy, Economics and Leadership Studies. These modules are embedded in Cornerstone’s core values of inclusivity, excellence, integrity, unity, respect and creativity.

This dynamic programme offers advanced academic challenge levels and builds intellectual independence and research capacity in psychology principles and methodologies at a postgraduate level of study.

This programme aims to produce a distinctive kind of counsellor: men and women who are deeply informed by both the Christian faith and the human science of psychology. We aim to produce graduates with a special ability to integrate Christian understanding of the human condition together with findings provided by the human sciences to help people on their journey to wholeness.
