Strengths

The Industrial Engineering program of the Universidad Santo Tomás is recognized by the Ministry of National Education of Colombia through Resolution 15785 of December 4, 2012, which granted the Qualified Registry to begin its academic and training activities, under the institutional accreditation of high quality.

It forms part of the academic and formative offer of the University of greatest tradition, history and experience in the country, as the First University Senate of Colombia, guided by proven humanistic principles, ethical values ​​and a deep sense of social responsibility. It has a competitive and flexible curriculum, with a teaching staff highly qualified professionally, ethically and pedagogically, with the necessary and appropriate bibliographic and technological means and with a physical plant suitable for the integral formation and well-being of the academic community. . The program offers the possibility of interacting with other programs of the Engineering Division and opting for a double program in several of them for those who demonstrate conditions of high academic performance.

It has international agreements with other universities in the country and abroad for the academic and research mobility processes, double degree, advanced training, research developments and international projection.

In addition to this, Universidad Santo Tomás has a high strength in the Engineering division, with six faculties of high trajectory with Engineering programs such as Civil, Mechanical, Telecommunications, Electronic, Environmental and Industrial Engineering. Among which students can develop interdisciplinary projects and perform double degrees depending on their academic level.

In 2011 for the third time in a row, tomasinos engineers won the Latin American competition in robotics in competition with renowned universities in Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia.

We received the SciatVt Siaviat award from the International Federation of Catholic Universities FIUC for our scientific and social institutional commitment to serve displaced populations in Colombia.

We are the first University of the Country that certified its academic processes under the International Standard ISO 9001, and whose system of quality management maintains this recognition with the scope of its processes.

We maintain academic cooperation agreements with institutions of higher education in more than fifteen countries.

We have coverage in different regions with face-to-face programs in Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Medellín, Tunja and Villavicencio, and with distance programs in twenty-seven cities of the country. Industrial engineering is currently in Bucaramanga and Bogotá.

The Institute of Languages ​​of the USTA is recognized by resolutions of the Secretary of Education of Bogotá for offering preparation programs in other languages.

Admission profile

Applicants to study industrial engineering are people who have completed their high school studies and have an affinity with research, science and technology. These competences will be strengthened and will grow throughout the career development and are evidenced, first of all by the university, as follows:

Universidad Santo Tomás offers society an integral Industrial Engineer, capable of finding effective solutions to the problems of companies, with ethical sense and social responsibility, committed to the search for effective solutions as a contribution to the quality of life of people and of the organizations, in accordance with the institutional mission and the research lines of the program.

The Industrial Engineer of Universidad Santo Tomás can opt for the emphasis of Logistics, Industrial Production and Comprehensive Business Management and has theoretical and practical training in basic sciences, in administrative, economic-financial areas, in systems and logistics operations, in management of productive systems, design and integral management of quality systems, technology and communication tools and in the evaluation of productive projects; based on philosophical and humanistic principles of Thomas Aquinas.
