Program Description

Through theory and a hands-on experience, the psychology program at Keuka College readies you for a variety of career opportunities that include family service, psychiatry, psychology, child protection, or school guidance counselor. As a student, you are given the opportunity to choose your own course of study by choosing one of four concentrations in child and family studies, developmental disabilities, forensic psychology, or mental health.

You are also given the opportunity to practice psychology in a real-world setting as a freshman, thanks to a 140-hour Field Period internship that must be completed every school year. You will be able to interact in an environment that speaks to your area of study, including police departments, health facilities, schools, and more.

Before leaving Keuka College for the job market or graduate school, you will have an in-depth understanding of the diverse nature of people, how to think scientifically, an idea of how the human mind works, and a strong sense of ethics to guide your research and testing.

Keuka College also offers a minor in psychology that is paired well with majors in criminal justice and criminology, political science and history, and sociology.
