Program Description

Packing emotions into creative artwork and inspiring an audience of millions; this is what every musician dreams of. With a bachelor's degree that specialises in pop music, you lay the foundation to achieve exactly this. Stylistic diversity, interdisciplinarity, the use of new media and an international approach are all important aspects of this course.

Contents of the Pop Music (B.A.) programme

During your studies, you will be taught a large amount of theoretical and practical knowledge, from the basics to the finer points of pop music. This ranges from working on your main instrument or vocals to sight-reading, experimental classes, pedagogy and music production. The modules include:

  • Main instruments/vocals
  • Music production
  • Intercultural Competences and Communication
  • Experimental 2D, 3D, 4D
  • Pedagogy/Music mediation
  • Music theory
  • Practical experience

Degree awarded

Students on this B.A. programme are awarded the following bachelor's degree:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Music with specialisation in Pop Music

Future career opportunities

After graduating from this B.A. with a specialisation in Pop Music, the doors to the music industry are open to you both nationwide and abroad. Our networks and cooperation partners, such as the Berklee College of Music, also make it possible to enter the international music business. Possible professions include:

  • Live or studio musician
  • Music lecturer
  • Composer
  • Orchestra or ensemble leader
  • Music producer
  • Solo musician in bands or or orchestras
  • Accompanying musician in bands
  • Roles in theatre and musical productions

Admission requirements

Admission requirements are as follows:

  • Recognised secondary school leaving certificate
  • English language proficiency certificate
    - TOEFL (at least 72 out of 120)
    - IELTS (at least 6 out of 9)
  • CV (curriculum vitae)
  • Letter of motivation
  • Successful audition
  • Personal interview (optional)
