Program Description

Modern industry relies on projects for much of its innovation. They are the lifeblood of high tech enterprises. Specialist teams implement specialist solutions on time and to a budget. New approaches to project management, such as agile methodologies, have had to be developed to address the needs of very large and very complex solution development. Project teams usually comprise much smaller teams, each working on separate parts of the overall project and often making different rates of progress. Keeping the overall project on track is a complex challenge. Our degree programme in Engineering Project Management also enables you to acquire project and general management skills, both personal and interpersonal, together with knowledge of modern management techniques and business applications. Graduates from the degree programme will be very well positioned for a wide range of job opportunities across a broad spread of industries.

The first year of all of our engineering degree programmes at the University of Greenwich focuses on the understanding of engineering science fundamental principles. This approach ensures that all of our graduates experience a solid foundation of broad technical knowledge and a working understanding of all the major Engineering disciplines – an essential prerequisite for a successful career in engineering management. At the end of the 1st year, students will be invited to choose to either continue on their initial degree programme or to swap to any of the other engineering degree programmes on offer. We feel it is very important that our students are empowered to be able to choose the degree programmes that are most appropriate for their ambitions and goals and we recognise that those may change during your studies with us as you learn more about each discipline. Skills and experience gained

Graduates from this degree programme will be strongly placed as they will have the skills necessary to pursue a wide range of technology, engineering and management-based careers, particularly in the fields of high-value manufacturing. They will be able to obtain employment in the industry and engineering sectors relevant to their degree specialism, making use of their general design, analysis, communication, IT, team working, research, lifelong learning, knowledge, skills and attitudes in addition to their specialist technical skills and knowledge. Graduates will be able to find roles in large enterprises, as well as smaller to medium sized companies, through the degree programme’s focus on developing an extensive mindset in conjunction with a strong technical skillset. Entrepreneurship is also encouraged and supported and a number of former students have opted to create their own companies. Graduates will also be extremely well equipped to enter further postgraduate study.
