Introduction
Degree in industrial engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering. Industrial engineers have a permanent place in companies in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing industries. Their broad-based training enables flexible use in practice. Above all, however, where engineering expertise and economic activity are required in one person: in technical sales and product launch, project planning and management, or production and process planning. Industrial engineers, like mechanical engineers, are among the occupational groups with the highest income and employment rates.Type of study: Full time Duration of study: 7 semesters Lecture language: German Graduation: Bachelor of Engineering ECTS: 210 next start of studies: each winter semester Application deadline: 07/15/2021
Industrial engineering degree study conceptThe structure of the course is based on the professional profile of the industrial engineer in corporate practice. According to the "Association for Industrial Engineers Germany", the tasks and problems at the interfaces between technology and business are increasing. Due to the existing specialization, there is an increasing lack of understanding and expertise in dealing with complex processes. Technical and commercial thinking in one is required. Industrial engineers close this gap. Due to a broad and almost equally balanced training in engineering on the one hand and economics on the other hand, you are able to recognize economically, technically and socially relevant questions and to contribute to answering them.
At the Hochschule Schmalkalden Sciences you will not first be trained as an engineer and then as a business economist, but study business administration and engineering in parallel (integrative study concept).Industrial engineering degree courseThe seven-semester industrial engineering course at Hochschule Schmalkalden Sciences includes a twelve-week engineering internship over the course of the fifth semester. The teaching is always accompanied by practical exercises in well-equipped laboratories. Compared to the classic mechanical engineering degree, some technical content is reduced and replaced by business administration and business law subjects. In the higher semesters, the industrial engineering course can be designed individually according to personal interests by taking certain elective subjects. The thesis is written at the end of the seventh semester in a private company. Graduates with above-average academic performance have the opportunity to continue their studies in the master’s degree in mechanical engineering

From the 4th semester you choose a major: Technical Management or Mechanical Engineering. With various elective and compulsory elective modules within your chosen focus, we offer you the possibility of an application- and job-oriented specialization of your industrial engineering degree. You will also complete an internship in a company of your choice, acquire selected key qualifications and finish your studies in the 7th semester with your bachelor's thesis as a thesis.Compulsory subjects in industrial engineering studies:mathematics
