About the course

The Methodist Economics course received concept 4 (scale from 1 to 5) in the last evaluation of the MEC and seeks to train professionals committed to the study of Brazilian reality and aware of the importance of the interrelationships that link economic phenomena to the social and , In particular, of its role as agent of these relations. In this way, the students receive a solid theoretical, historical and instrumental formation.

According to the philosophy of the institution, the training seeks to unite the technique to the ethics and to prepare the students to work in the diverse areas of the public or private sector. The course, with evening classes, can be completed in four years.


The course has multimedia classrooms, ergonomic chairs and simulation and research software, as well as computerized laboratories with Internet access and a database of similar institutions. Students also have the Library's extensive and up-to-date collection.

In addition, the Economic Observatory is an integral part of the course activities, being used by teachers and students in carrying out research projects and in the application of field research.

The professional

You will be able to carry out studies, surveys, analyzes, reports, opinions, expert reports, arbitrations, awards, schedules and certificates on the subjects of your professional field, as well as planning, implementation, orientation, supervision and assistance of works related to economic activities or Public, private or mixed enterprises, in order to obtain the increase or conservation of economic income.

Job market

The public sector economist deals with macroeconomic issues such as inflation, industrial policy, public deficit, foreign exchange and fiscal policy. In the private sector, its performance focuses on microeconomic aspects such as production costs, price formation and financial operations. In the public sector, its activities are in the budgetary, financial, analysis of conjuncture and advisory services to hire human resources and purchase of materials. In the private sector, there are opportunities in the financial market, research institutes, advisory and consulting companies, industry, agroindustry, commerce, services, universities and class entities and foreign trade, for example.
