About

We train professionals who have a high capacity for expression and understanding of the English language, and a sufficient knowledge of French as a second language, promoting the acquisition of linguistic, literary and cultural knowledge of English-speaking countries and new technologies related to these studies.

If you are interested in learning to

  • Know the scientific description of the English language.
  • Manage the interlinguistic and intercultural communication techniques of English and Spanish.
  • Understand the intralinguistic variation of English and its consequences in the interpretation of texts (diachronic linguistics, sociolinguistics and dialectology).
  • Use the techniques and basic methods of processing and textual production in English: textual criticism, text editing, revision, rewriting, and, in general, linguistic advice.
  • Analyze the literary traditions in English and their relationship with the Spanish.
  • Know the history and culture linked to English-speaking countries and their relationship with Spanish and French history and culture.

Competencies

DISCIPLINARY AND ACADEMIC (KNOW)

Advanced knowledge of the scientific description of the English language (language B).

Knowledge of interlinguistic and intercultural communication techniques that affect English and Spanish.

Knowledge of the intralinguistic variation of English and its consequences in the interpretation of texts (diachronic linguistics, sociolinguistics and dialectology).

Knowledge of techniques and basic methods of processing and textual production in English (language B): textual criticism, text editing, revision, rewriting, and, in general, linguistic advice.

Knowledge of the literary traditions in English and their relationship with the Spanish.

Knowledge of the history and culture linked to English-speaking countries and their relationship with Spanish and French history and culture as a requirement for the understanding of their texts.

Access and admission of students

Access to the Official Bachelor University Teaching of the University of León as well as its admission procedures are regulated by Royal Decree 1892/2008, as amended and by the agreements reached by the Interuniversity Commission of Castilla y León.
