Program Description

What is Financial Engineering?

It is an engineering whose field of action is the financial area of ​​the organizations, in three areas of action that are: Corporate Finance, Capital Markets and Financial Risks.

The program arises from the need of a trained professional to model and manage the resources, the instruments and the financial risks to promote the profitable and sustainable growth of the assets of the organizations in an environment of uncertainty.

Why study Financial Engineering?

  • Because organizations need to generate value and boost growth, through finance and risk management; with the development and application of mathematical, statistical and computational models, methods and tools.
  • The financial engineer contributes to the growth of organizations based on the management of financial variables for decision making.
  • Because the financial engineer generates value and participation in the capital market through the operation and design of investment, financing and hedging instruments.
  • To identify, quantify and manage exposure to different types of financial risk of organizations.

Methodology

The formative process of the financial engineering program is supported by the objectives of each subject, which throughout the program develop personal and professional competences in the student in a structured manner, based on the combination of theory and practice, which allows for appropriation and reflection of knowledge through methodologies that include, among others, active learning and the use of ICT tools, as well as the use of computer tools or means to apply the knowledge acquired in the solution of problems related to their professional activity.

The integral formation of the student is constructed from the training axes of the Financial Engineering program that develop in the student the analytical capacity to solve complex problems, the systemic vision of the environment where he / she works, the ability to build statistical models that support the decision-making, academic rigor, social responsibility, respect for the environment and the entrepreneurial spirit.

The training process is expanded through different training activities that validate the achievement of the development objectives of the subjects and promote the active participation of the student in the teaching - learning process.

Finally, the evaluation component that promotes the continuous improvement of the program and evaluates the quality of the training process, is based on the evaluation of the subject in each subject, the teacher evaluation and the curricular evaluation, which allow the Institution to deliver to society professionals who contribute to its sustainable development.
