Program Description


We give you the warmest welcome to the Theatre Faculty of the Universidad Veracruzana:

Founded in 1976 is one of the pioneers of higher artistic training in theatrical discipline in Latin America. In 2016 celebrates its 40th anniversary of being founded. The current Curriculum 2008 Bachelor of Theatre proposes the preparation of a comprehensive dramatist committed to knowledge and its social relevance, is based on the concept of flexibility according to the Educational Model Comprehensive and Flexible (MEIF) of the Universidad Veracruzana.


School of Theatre is an academic institution Universidad Veracruzana that, according to its principles and social commitment is to contribute to the training of professionals able to operate in different fields of stagecraft (Performance, Stage Creation, Management Theatre and Intervention Socioeducativa) to strengthen and transform the national scenic panorama. For this promotes the student an attitude of artistic achievement, as well as values ​​of responsible participation in society and in the profession, critical and open attitude based on the principles of tolerance, respect and understanding, besides autonomy in decision-making for individual and professional life.


School of Theatre is located within the first institutions of higher education in theatrical matters in the region of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, so that their graduates are widely recognized in the professional field. His students and academics conducted at other universities in the country and abroad. His Theatre Company is recognized regionally, nationally and internationally. His academic body maintains the level of "Consolidated" and encourages the participation of academics in international networks and research projects with social relevance; It is the first theater training institution in the country that offers undergraduate and graduate studies. It has facilities, equipment and forms of academic-administrative organization adequate to develop their activities in a creative, dignified and sustainable environment. Make permanent actions in different regions of the University and has increased its enrollment. With all that has been achieved that the theater is a relevant in the cultural life of our community at the local, state and regional level activity.

In these guidelines the Universidad Veracruzana as a public institution of higher education that makes the generation, application and social distribution of knowledge and culture transformer axis of the academic organization and society are endorsed.



a) To train professionals able to operate in the theatrical field, integrate and / or modify existing projects and generate new projects, relevant social and cultural environments in the disciplinary, multi, inter and transdisciplinary level.

To achieve this, a flexible and open training to differences in the various theatrics is offered, linking learning processes with the development of skills needed in the field and focusing the unity of knowledge that enables both a certain level of expertise by three integration areas.

b) To develop in the future profesionista the values ​​of responsible participation in society and the profession; critical capacity and open position based on the principles of tolerance, respect and understanding, besides autonomy in decision-making for individual and professional life.

This will be achieved by promoting self-learning as a process centered on the person (student) and their individual and collective projects.



  1. Provide students with the means to access and systematization of knowledge in order to stimulate self-regulated and significant for the theater, learning individual and collective projects.
  2. Develop the skills and competencies required for Performance, Stage Theater Creation and management and socio-educational intervention.

Performance by area:

Developing skills to assess and implement their own artistic skills that enable you to working practices in the different modes of theatrical creation, integrating the complexity of the research, production and creation.

Scenic area by Creation:

Developing skills to assess and implement their own artistic skills, and collaborators in project management, dramaturgy and stage design, the complexity of integrating research, production and creation.

By Theatrical Management area and socio-educational Intervention:

Developing skills to plan, develop, manage, produce and / or face action educational intervention to strengthen the individual and society link the complexity of integrating research, production and creation.

The limit quota enrollment is 40 students, so the examination disciplinary artistic skills applied, taking into account the following: Being accepted in the admissions test, which assesses: intellectual skills, artistic skills (histrionic, body, vocal), Creativity (intellectual and artistic), personal project.


At the end of the race, the graduate will have the necessary tools to integrate the work environment, being able to generate, propose and / or perform theater projects in institutional and self-management groups joining the workforce connected with culture and education, and face in the future specializing in postgraduate training levels.

It will be familiar with the major theatrical theories and historically generated theatrical forms, as well as those that support knowledge creation processes, research, management and theater pedagogy.

It will be able to join the social environment, uphold the principles of professional ethics recognizing the values ​​of tolerance, cooperation, understanding, dialogue and coexistence in a plural society.

Considering the career objectives, the curriculum has been structured under the guidelines of comprehensive and flexible educational model, introducing four guidelines that concentrate disciplinary content in three areas Integration and five learning modalities.


Creation: Includes the problem of the generation of products with aesthetic value and refers to the acting, directing, dramaturgy and stage design. Research: provides the basis for confronting the generation of knowledge about the theatrical field. Enter in the epistemological, methodological and technical issues of research in the humanities and arts

Pedagogy: Touch a broad aspect of the theatrical phenomenon in its social, cultural and psychological meaning. The theater is a sensitive means of the formation of man and is open to all levels, from kindergarten dramatic to old age, and from the social teaching of the theater, through the strictly "professional" and until the end of the theater as therapy.

Management and Production: Includes training regarding the planning, organization and implementation aspects of artistic production in public, private institutions and independent groups. Modalities.

  • Scenic / field practices: They are related to the work of the workshops, forming its extension regarding the presentation to the public and / or community action.


Theatre at the Faculty of theatrical knowledge is organized by areas of integration include several educational experiences on each training field, thus the student besides build their own knowledge-base generally choose an area where considered best able to develop: performance (performance techniques-text / body, body techniques, dance and theory); performing arts (direction, dramaturgy, stage design); Theatrical Management and Intervention Socioeducativa (leadership, management and production, theater pedagogy, research). Integrating these areas each have four educational experiences that bring together a body of knowledge that are not parceled, unified manner. The student must attend a mandatory basis, two of these areas, in two consecutive periods totaling 40 credits. You can then serially choose only one of these areas to form their competence with which finish the race (For example: Acting I, II and III).
