Program Description

Marine Biology Program It is recognized for its quality through national quality accreditation carried out by an accrediting body recognized by the Council for the Evaluation of Higher Education, COPAES, AC

Curriculum and Curricular Structure is comprised of 350 credits, according to the guidelines School Control Educational Programs MEIF, are studied in a standard time of 7 Periods (3.5 years) with a short period of 5 ( 2.5 years) and a long period of 11 (5.5 years).

Standard Total Credits / 50 = Standard 350/50 = 7 periods
Continuous Short Standard time is multiplied by 0.75 7 x 0.75 = 5.25 periods
Continuous long Standard time is multiplied by 1.50 7 x 1.5 = 10.5 periods
Marine biology train professionals agree that address the social problems of each region, supported by comprehensive training that includes theoretical and practical, basic, disciplinary and professionalizing subjects. The educational experiences that make up the curriculum offered, for the biological area (invertebrates, botany, microbiology, etc.), chemistry (general chemistry, biochemistry, etc.), mathematics (statistics, multivariate statistics, etc.) ecological (marine ecology) and physical (administration, design and evaluation of projects, etc.). In general, overlap in terms of basic subjects related to marine biodiversity and mathematics and chemistry as well as in inclusive educational experiences (eg evolution) are noticed. It proposes the social and human development based on accurate knowledge of natural marine resources that allows its preservation for future generations.



Therefore the graduate will have the expertise and capacities to propose:

  • Prepare assessments of the conservation status of marine ecosystems
  • Propose management guidelines for species and marine and coastal ecosystems
  • Establish guidelines and strategies to restore the marine environment and recovering endangered species.

The program Degree in Marine Biology has a mission to train professionals with a comprehensive profile and ethical values ​​that give competition to generate knowledge and understanding biological processes of marine organisms, leading to proper management of marine biological resources and to detect and propose production strategies and collaborate on social and cultural development of different sectors, preserving the marine environment within the framework of sustainable development.

It is expected that by 2030 the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences, Zona Poza Rica Tuxpan Universidad Veracruzana enjoy national and international prestige based on their activities of teaching, research and dissemination of knowledge, particularly in the area of ​​Marine Biology . For this, you will become skilled professionals and develop research programs to address the problems of the marine environment in relation to biodiversity, production and management.

Marine Biology program will include certification by accrediting agencies Higher Education and this will allow you to provide quality services to society with the highest ethical and professional standards, thus maintaining a permanent link with the various social sectors. Among the elements that favor this view, there will be a teaching staff full time with diversified load and graduate 100% of these at least 30% belong to the SNI and 100% will recognize PROMEP profile. In addition, all teachers will be integrated into academic bodies that will be incorporated into national and international networks. 50% of graduates of this degree credited the overall examination of professional quality and of these 50% will achieve high recognition performance.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Train professionals in a comprehensive manner, relevant for the study of marine organisms and processes that allow continuous learning, human quality and socially responsible in order to solve problems related to biodiversity and production of goods and services linked marine environments.

Promote the development of logical, critical and creative thinking from lifelong learning, innovative, creative and entrepreneurial development that allows the student to generate and acquire new knowledge related to marine biology to find solutions to problems related to biodiversity and production of goods and services related to marine ecosystems and its components, interacting with multi and interdisciplinary groups.

Human target
Promote and cultivate ethical attitudes and principles that define the values ​​of integrity, respect for nature, fairness, responsibility and commitment that contribute to personal growth in all its manifestations.

Social objective
Contribute to strengthening the values ​​and attitudes that facilitate the integration of the individual working groups to interact, live and work together expressing freedom of expression, pluralism and respect, behaving responsibly to solve the problems of marine ecosystems and their components.

Professional objective
Offer students, educational experiences that allow them to obtain and develop theoretical knowledge, heuristics and axiological underpinning the knowhow of Bachelor in Marine Biology, in addressing the challenges in this area with quality and ethics that allow them to join sectors private and public of their professional area.

The applicant to pursue a degree in Marine Biology should have interest in marine nature, in addition to commitment and respect for living things, availability for teamwork and commitment to social and economic development related to the sea.
