The Lindenwood University Dance Program cultivates student success by pairing professional preparatory experiences with a diverse curriculum in dance. Our dedicated faculty guides students through opportunities to educate, entertain, and enlighten, leading to 21st-century dance professionals with tools to enrich the community.
In addition to our three production shows and our annual trip to the American College Dance Association conference, students may have the opportunity to showcase their work at local events including Grand DanceFest and National Dance Week St. Louis. Students have also traveled with faculty to perform in The Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, The Detroit Dance City Festival, and The American Tap Dance Foundation's showcase, "Something's Afoot."

A Bachelor of Arts in Dance is a liberal arts degree program with a strong dance curriculum in diverse techniques and dance-specific academics. Students in this program are encouraged to minor in programs such as business, nonprofit administration, psychology, or exercise science to enhance opportunities for future employment. If you are interested in the BA in dance, an audition is encouraged, but not required.
A Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is a professional degree program that prepares students for performing careers. Coursework (for this program) combines a liberal arts curriculum with intensive coursework in diverse dance techniques, advanced dance-specific academics, and performance-related courses in music and theatre. If you wish to pursue a BFA in dance at Lindenwood University, you must audition and declare a specialization of ballet, contemporary, or jazz dance.
While many of our students go on to pursue professional performing careers, some students pair this major with a degree in business or nonprofit administration before opening their own dance studios or pursuing administrative careers in the arts.
