The Chemical Engineer is a professional capable of transforming the raw material into products through the elaboration and / or improvement of manufacturing processes in small or large scale. It is able to design and control the construction, assembly, installation and operation of equipment and factories where the preparation or chemical treatment of products is carried out. It carries out investigations in order to verify the different operational stages, production possibilities for commercial purposes, always aiming at reducing production costs and environmental impacts, as well as better quality control. It is also incumbent upon the Chemical Engineer to inspect and coordinate the activities of the workers in charge of chemical equipment and systems.

Currently, the professional required by the labor market has to be an entrepreneur, that is, it is expected to have initiative, leadership capacity and, above all, motivation and enthusiasm.

Considering that the best way to prepare the student for professional work is to contribute to the effective and consistent incorporation of the basic concepts and ethical training, the course of Chemical Engineering of the USF was elaborated from a set of fundamental disciplines , Common to the courses of engineering, specific professional disciplines and general disciplines that allow the expansion of the possibilities of acting in the labor market. With these resources the student will have the conditions to be successful in the career choices and also will have the intellectual basis to be a citizen participant.

The course began in the first half of 2012. Its curriculum seeks to improve teaching-learning relationships, with the aim of better delineating the professional that will be formed by the University of São Francisco. In this sense, the subjects were distributed in 10 semester modules, with no prerequisites.
