Overview

The programme combines language studies with business studies and aims at preparing students for international careers in enterprises and institutions operating in the modern economic and political environment. All three elective modules comprise studying Business English, Financial English, English for Law, as well as studying general and business aspects of the other modern language.

The programme provides cultural studies through such courses as Intercultural Communication, Intercultural Business Relations, business studies throughthe basic management studies as well as EU and international market specific study courses. Students will be able to continue education in Master degree programmes and second level professional study programmes.

The language studies in the programme offer a choice between three language modules: English-French, English-Spanish and English-German. The full-time degree programme covers 4 academic years. Classes are mainly from 8.30am till 6pm in the working days. The part-time programme covers 5 academic years. Classes are 3 times a month on Saturdays from 10am till 6pm.

Entry qualification

High school / secondary education (or higher)

Applicants applying for undergraduate degree studies are required to have completed their secondary/high school education.

The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Latvian.

Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

Applicants must upload education documents in original language, as well as translations into English.

Diplomas and transcripts issued outside EU must be legalized with a legalization stamp or Apostille.

You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university.

Language requirements

English

Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests:

  • TOEFL IBT – at least score 72;
  • IELTS – at least score 5.5;
  • PTE General – at least level B2;
  • FCE – at least level B;
  • CPE – satisfactory pass;
  • CAE – satisfactory pass.

University can provide English language test for additional payment (97.50 EUR)

Applicants whose native language is English or previous education is obtained in English are exempt from this requirement (except citizens of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal).

Other requirements
  • Satisfactory grades in Mathematics or Physics (at least 4 in a 10 point grading system)
  • For citizens of India, Sri Lanka and Nepal – Skype interview which includes questions about profiling subjects and motivation

Career opportunities

The programme prepares graduates for different careers in the public and private sector in the local and international labour market where integration of the knowledge of several languages and the knowledge of business is required. Programme graduates may work as manager’s assistants, assistants in administration, translators and in other positions or start their own business.
