The study programme is unique in the Baltic States. Study programme prepares highly qualified, competitive and competent experts.
The study courses are taught by a team of qualified, well-motivated and experienced academic personal. Modern and creative study process allows the students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies in inter-field study programme, which combines engineering sciences, management sciences and natural sciences.
During engineering studies, the students gain understanding of system management principles in industrial engineering and practical skills in provision and improvement of technical processes of manufacturing.
The management science courses provide students with knowledge on management principles and human resources management, entrepreneurship organization, management of innovations and efficiency, as well as performance of necessary economic calculations. The students learn principles of organization performance quality and efficiency, which include LEAN philosophy (prudent management methods) and methods that are used by the world’s leading industrial companies.
General secondary high school diploma (both in original language and a notarized translation in English);
Transcript of grades or final examination results (both in original language and a notarized translation in English);
Grades in Mathematics must be no less than 4 in a 10 point grading system;
Diplomas and transcripts issued outside EU/EAA countries, United Kingdom or Switzerland must be legalized with a legalization stamp or Apostille. More information available HERE.
You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally arrive at the university.
Applicants must prove their English language proficiency. The University accepts the following international language tests:
TOEFL IBT – at least score 72
IELTS – at least score 5.5
PTE General – at least level B2
FCE – at least level B
CPE – satisfactory pass
CAE – satisfactory pass
If you don’t have any chance to take English test, University of Latvia offers to take online Pearson test.
If your previous studies have been obtained in English but in the country where English is not native language, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (secondary school, etc.) where is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills.
Applicants who have obtained previous education in English in one of the bellow listed countries do not need to provide separate language proficiency: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom, United States of America.
Internationally recognized foreign language certificate does not have to be presented if the applicant has acquired secondary education in a EU/EEA country, United Kingdom or Switzerland and in his secondary education certificate is included an assessment of foreign language skills, which are comparable to at least level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
As a part of the admission process applicants will be asked to participate in an online interview.
The graduates of the professional Bachelor’s programme “Industrial engineering” are able to work as the managers of the highest level and system management engineers in a company of any industry. The acquired knowledge allows to understate and regulate technological processes of the company, as well as to manage companies and structural departments of organizations.
Market research shows that there is a lack of highly qualified engineers both in Latvia and abroad, and the demand of such experts will significantly increase in the future. Therefore, the graduates will not only have sufficient opportunities of employment, but also career growth opportunities both in Latvia and abroad.
