The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program provides students with critical skills and current knowledge needed in today’s law enforcement community. All courses are case-oriented and application based. Graduates should be able to explain the scientific study of crime and criminals, the law-making process, the criminal justice system, and the treatment of offenders. Students learn to implement innovative solutions for law enforcement, criminal investigation, and management and administration of criminal justice related activities.

Program Overview

Students in the Bachelor’s degree program deepen their understanding of security operations and management, adding forensic science, victimology and profiling, constitutional law and criminal procedures. Graduates are prepared to work for the court system and in state agencies (e.g. the Division of Child and Family Services, DCFS), and in private security.

Job Titles for Criminal Justice Graduates:*

  • Evidence Technician
  • Private Investigator
  • Corrections Officer

*Criminal background check and/or drug screen tests may be required for externship and/or employment.

Additional training may be required for some law enforcement jobs.
