  • First Year - Basics of International Business
  • Second Year – Choosing the Fields of Specialisation
  • Third Year – Exchange Studies and Practical Training
  • Fourth Year – Bachelor's Thesis and Developing Professional Expertise

Choosing a field of specialisation

At the end of the first year, you will start to plan your own career path. At this stage you will choose your second-year specialisation out of the following seven options:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Experience Economy and Tourism
  • Human Resource Management and Leadership
  • Innovation Management and Business Development
  • Marketing
  • Supply Chain Management.

Structure of studies

The scope of the degree programme is worth 210 credits (ECTS) and it takes 3.5 years to complete. If you plan your studies carefully, it may be possible to graduate sooner.

The BBA Degree Programme consists of the following parts:

  • Basic and Professional Studies (145 ECTS credit points) including a required International Student Exchange of 4 - 6 months,
  • Free-Choice Studies (20 ECTS credit points),
  • International Practical Training (30 ECTS credit points)
  • Bachelor's thesis (15 ECTS credit points)

For Finnish nationals, both a semester of study abroad and a practical training placement abroad are required parts of the degree programme. For the students of other nationalities, study and training periods abroad are highly recommended but not required.

Final project

The objective of the Bachelor's thesis (15 ECTS credit points) is to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and in this way to produce topical solutions for the organisation's needs. The thesis is written following the practices of scientific reporting and with an emphasis on practical solutions for existing problems within the organisation concerned. It can be a planning or development task, research, a product, or a guide done for a company, a branch of local government, or other organisations. Ideally, the students should find a practical case for their final thesis during practical training. Writing the Bachelor's thesis will take from four to six months, depending on the topic and level of difficulty.

Internalisation

As a TAMK student, you have the opportunity to complete part of your degree abroad in one of TAMK's partner universities, of which we have over 300 in more than 50 countries. Practical training can also be done anywhere in the world; you are free to arrange your training placements to suit your own international career plans. For Finnish nationals, both a semester of study abroad and a practical training placement abroad are required parts of the degree programme. For students of other nationalities, study and training periods abroad are highly recommended but not required.

The degree programme is an inspiring and multicultural learning environment. Half of the students are Finnish and the other half comprises international students from other European countries, Asia, North America, South America, and Africa. Other means of guaranteeing a truly international and multicultural study experience are to immerse yourself in language studies, peer tutoring for other international students, friend-family activities and international projects and themed weeks.

As a student enrolled in this degree programme, you will have the opportunity to apply for a double degree at Munich University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) in Germany or the University of Salford in the UK. If accepted, you will spend a full academic year at MUAS/Salford and get a degree certificate from both TAMK and MUAS/Salford on completion of your double degree.
