Experiment with 3D construction techniques and technologies utilising a range of media. Move onto digital technologies and installation practice to test unique exhibition presentation methods. Graphic Design (GD) Gain a solid foundation in design. Work collaboratively in teams to create client briefs and develop unique solutions to a range of real world problems including branding, illustration, packaging or photography. Advance your software skills and then extend them in the second and third year to encompass new fields such as digital illustration, moving image, animation and studio practice. Indicative Fees Domestic students per year $6,208.00 International students per year $19,944.00 Qualifications Gained On successful completion of the programme you will receive: Bachelor of Creative Industries (Level 7) with the relevant major Entry Criteria To gain entry into this programme, you must meet the following criteria: A portfolio containing 10 pieces of work University Entrance or successful completion of the Certificate in Art and Design Level 4 Students are expected to have the literacy skills required to meet the academic needs of the degree. Evidence of this may be required. Portfolio BCI applicants are required to submit a portfolio when they apply for the programme. The portfolio will show applicants’ creative ideas, originality, curiosity and imagination, and how they can use this within creative visual work. Special Admission The Polytechnic will consider students for special admission who do not satisfy the standard academic entry requirements of a programme but who in the opinion of the Programme Co-ordinator are capable of achieving the programme outcomes. English Language Requirements International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years, before being eligible to enrol in any non-English programme. Programme aim Study a range of technologies: art; graphic design; fashion; and interior design, to participate and contribute to the creative industries. The programme is delivered within an applied and collaborative creative technologies environment learners will scaffold and broaden their knowledge, skills and application. Award information To achieve the award of the Bachelor of Creative Technologies: Te Tohu Paetahi Tū Tāngata, students must pass a total of 360 credits as specified in the programme structure, including: 120 credits at Level 5; 135 credits at Level 6; and 105 credits at Level 7.
