A bachelor's degree is given to students who fulfill the necessary requirements given by the college or university they are attending. The requirements include three to seven years of focus on a subject, typically referred to as a major or concentration.

Urban design is an area of study and practice that combines numerous disciplines involved with the shaping of modern cities and towns. Common elements of urban design that student learn typically include landscape design, developmental economics and highway engineering.
