Bachelors 2017 in Washoe USA. Psychology majors learn about human behavior and its context. They study motivations, capacities and human abilities, and practioners put this knowledge to work in the alleviation of human suffering. Contemporary psychology is somewhat divided into different approaches or theories for understanding behavior. The organisms considered may range from chimps to pigeons, from humans to amoebas. Some psychologists believe it is most important to understand physiological processes (biological approach); others rarely, if ever, consider physiology. Some psychologists insist that we must investigate the deepest thoughts of the unconscious mind (psychoanalysis); others seek to understand mental structures and processes that underlie human performance (cognitivists). Meanwhile, others study the situated actions of organisms and deny that "mind" can be separated from this level of analysis (behaviorism). Psychology is far from being a unified field of research and practice. This will be one of the questions you will have to answer for yourself: which field, or perspective, of psychology is the most interesting to you. Areas of study include the physiology of the brain and nervous system, cognition, learning, child psychology, abnormal psychology and animal behavior. Where Can I Go With Psychology? A basic knowledge of psychology can illuminate some basic principles of behavior -- a tremendous asset if you want to communicate effectively, persuade, supervise or teach. Psychology is one of the most popular undergraduate majors. Many majors use it as a base for a liberal arts education, or as a foundation for work in other fields such... [-]

A degree in electrical engineering prepares students to develop solutions to urgent problems in areas such as power, communications, computing and networking. Electrical engineers work with electromagnetic fields and electricity for use in communications, biotechnology applications and electronic circuits. The core of electrical engineering is the ability to work with sensors, acquire data, communicate electronically, process signals and information, model complex systems, and integrate various sources of energy in distributed systems. Areas of emphasis You have the option of choosing to pursue your electrical engineering degree with an emphasis in either renewable energy or biomedical engineering. Renewable energy: Students pursuing this emphasis take the same required courses as all other electrical engineering majors, but they focus on energy-related topics for their senior year technical electives. Biomedical engineering: Students pursuing this emphasis are required to take three additional introductory courses in biology and chemistry, but they have fewer technical elective requirements, which must include coursework in biochemistry and biomedical engineering. The bachelor's degree program focuses on giving students depth of knowledge, breadth of knowledge and professionalism. Our graduates are able to apply specialized knowledge in the practice or advanced study of electrical engineering, including scientific principles, rigorous analysis and creative design. Additionally, graduates develop a broad range of knowledge, including information on the most important current issues in electrical engineering, for productive careers in the public or private sector or for the pursuit of graduate education. Civil engineers use their knowledge of science and engineering to design and maintain much of our world's infrastructure. They also apply their expertise to improve our quality of life, whether it's by designing safer buildings, reducing our carbon footprint or just shortening your commute. Their work helps solve many of our planet's most serious problems, including decaying roadways, clogged highways, polluted water and hazardous wastes. Civil engineers generally specialize in a particular area. Our department offers five areas of specialization for students: Earthquake and structural engineering involves the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads, such as bridges or buildings. Environmental engineering uses science and engineering principles to improve the environment, with a special focus on air, water and land resources. Geotechnical engineering is the branch of civil engineering concerned with the engineering behavior of earth materials such as soils, foundations and earth structures like tunnels, dams or levees. Pavements/materials engineering focuses on pavement design and materials as well as vehicle pavement interaction. Transportation engineering involves all aspects of planning, functional design, operation and facilities management for any mode of transportation.
