The tangible and real benefits of starting your engineering program at UWG include our smaller, more personalized classes in a pleasant environment close to Atlanta, courses taught by real professors skilled in teaching, and lower costs at a medium-sized university closer to home. We have 3 basic plans: RETP (Regents Engineering Transfer Program) or 2+2 with Georgia Tech. This plan allows students to spend two years at UWG in a specially designed engineering track before transferring to Georgia Tech. Basic math, science and engineering courses plus core curriculum courses are taken at UWG and then the student transfers to Georgia Tech for the remaining two years. At the completion of the program, a BS in engineering is awarded by Georgia Tech in one of the following: Aerospace Engineering Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Industrial Engineering Materials Science and Engineering Mechanical Engineering Nuclear and Radiological Engineering Textile and Fiber Engineering While at UWG, RETP students enjoy many of the advantages of Tech students: they have equal access to engineering majors at Tech, can participate in the highly successful Co-op program, and they are invited every spring for campus tours, information sessions, and meetings with advisors in their engineering major.
