Political Science addresses some of the fundamental problems facing human society. Questions concerning government policies aimed at achieving economic stability and growth, the gap between the rich and poor, the role of NGOs to affect social and political change, the relations between countries, the crisis of our democratic institutions, and the world peace are all on the research agenda of contemporary political scientists. The general purpose of the major is to address these and other similar important issues in a multidisciplinary way, and, simultaneously, to expose students to think critically and reason analytically about the constantly evolving political landscape in Asia compared to the rest of the world.

Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private Bachelor in Liberal Studies (BLS) degree awarded by the school's headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned.

BA Programme in International Relations was launched in 2010 and is the largest at the faculty. The programme is taught in Georgian as well as in English and aims at providing a modern multidisciplinary knowledge of international relations with essential input from political science, economic and legal disciplines relevant to the field. Anthropology is the study of humans, past and present. The Major in Anthropology provides students with critical, creative, and globally-based thinking skills. At UGA, our focus on ecological and environmental anthropology crosscuts three main sub-fields: archaeology, biological anthropology, and cultural anthropology. The Institute for African American Studies within the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences provides a central focus for study of the impact of African American contributions upon human culture. Students will choose from one area of concentration and from each of the other two intellectually stimulating and exciting courses across the following three areas of concentration - History and Culture, Behavioral and Social Inquiry and Languages, and Literature and the Arts – for an appreciation of history, culture, psychology, socioeconomics, diversity, humanity, and experience.

The College of Media and Mass Communication offers an undergraduate degree in International Relations, that is crucial to examining fundamental contemporary issues. The accredited program is of a contemporary standard, with the addition of specific areas of recent innovations in e-disciplines. There is a great emphasis on supporting students throughout their studies. Students are able to access a wide range of resources and benefit from impressive modern teaching techniques including e-learning. The Department of Social Work welcomes students who are interested in understanding and working with people and communities based on people’s strengths according to the principles of human rights and social justice. Our curriculum prepares students to be professional social workers that are able to work in multiple settings with diverse populations and issues. We adopt different methods of teaching and assessment to ensure the effectiveness of students’ learning. Since the demand for trained social workers increases every year, we also encourage our students to pass the certification exam and become licensed social workers.
