Each year, the FdV Bachelor Program (Frontières du Vivant, Frontiers of Life Science) offers to 20 international students the opportunity to study life sciences with an interdisciplinary approach during Spring Semester, from the beginning of February to end of June. This international semester aims to gather students from foreign universities in the world to experience project-based learning in an interdisciplinary and stimulating international setting. [+]

Different ways of learning

The FdV bachelor was created in 2011 with the aim to teach interdisciplinary approaches to life science through research-based teaching and innovative pedagogy. The goal is to teach the students not only the content but also the essential 21st-century skills– learning to learn, creativity, critical thinking, collaborative work and use of modern technology in the working environment.Thanks to those efforts the undergraduate program “Frontiers of Life Science” was recognized by receiving the UNESCO label, as well as an MCE innovation in pedagogy award.

Une licence scientifique interdisciplinaire

La licence Frontières du Vivant est une formation généraliste et interdisciplinaire, c’est bien plus qu’une licence de biologie. Elle vise à transmettre aux étudiants une solide culture scientifique centrée sur l’étude du vivant, toujours en interaction avec la physique, la chimie, les mathématiques, l‘informatique ou encore les sciences sociales. Le cursus attache autant d’importance à l’acquisition de compétences que de connaissances, aussi bien disciplinaires que transversales.

Apprentissage par la recherche

La spécificité de ce programme est de favoriser l’innovation pédagogique, en plaçant l’étudiant au cœur de son apprentissage à travers des enseignements, une sensibilisation à la recherche sous forme de projets et l’exploration de milieux professionnels : laboratoires, entreprises, associations. Les projets réalisés en groupe bénéficieront d’un accompagnement personnalisé et seront encadrés par des tuteurs et/ou pairs.
