While framing the curriculum, not only the technology development in civil engineering but the technology development in information technology, biotechnology, satellite communications, computers and materials have been taken into account. The total credits for the Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering programme has been fixed as 186. For basic sciences, engineering arts and sciences and humanities and management sciences 30 % of the total credits and for departmental core and electives, 65 % of the total credits `and for emerging areas and open electives 5 % of the total credits are allotted.
