Bachelors degrees are a common type of undergraduate degree, and are used by students to help them achieve a successful career. These degrees are typically completed within four years.

What is a Bachelor in Equine Studies? There are two popular tracks that students can choose to pursue in equine studies. A science-focus track will prepare students to continue in veterinary medicine. A program that focuses on management and training will prepare students for a business career with horses. At the bachelor level, students will receive broad education in basic skills like composition and math. They will also study more dedicated courses, such as accounting, basic and novice equitation, horse training, horse production, equine law, crop management and a variety of horse riding and jumping skills.

While a lot can be learned about horses through spending time working with them, a Bachelor in Equine Studies will help student gain a broader and more scientific understanding of the animals, leading to more employment opportunities. The degree can also help prepare students for the professional rigors associated with the business of managing animals.

The cost of a Bachelor in Equine Studies will vary greatly depending on the length of time it takes to complete the coursework, what university is attended, and what country that university is located in. Contact schools with programs that interest you for more information regarding costs.

Depending on the course of study chosen, a Bachelor in Equine Studies can prepare students for a variety of careers. With a scientific background, students can work in veterinary offices or in barns and stables as assistants. With a business background, students will be able to become a trainer, riding instructor or barn manager. There are also positions available in equestrian insurance companies, leisure and consulting.

A Bachelor in Equine Studies can help you pursue your dream career or be used as a stepping stone to further learning. To find out more about this kind of education, search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.

Why should you study Horse Science at MTSU? What careers are available? Most people consider the obvious ones first: horse trainer, riding teacher, groom, barn manager, breeding/foaling manager, veterinarian, and farrier—careers that require hands-on work directly with horses. Many people do not consider the depth and scope of the U.S. horse industry. According to a 2018 survey by the American Horse Council, there are 7.2 million horses in the United States today. The horse industry contributes $122 billion to the gross domestic product and pays over $2 million in taxes annually. -
