PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF GRADUATE
The education at this study programme is focused on the field of electromechanical, electrohydraulic and other systems controlled by computer. They are characterized by the movement control of their parts and the energetic interactions, the transformations of the various forms of energy focused on the subsystems of information transfer, control and regulation, which are based on the microprocessor control in the real time. The graduates have a possibility to specialize for the field of automobile technology choosing the optional courses.
Besides the basic disciplines of natural science, the graduate gains the skills:
from the work with information technology, the knowledge related to the programming techniques and the programmes for computer designs of systems,
related to the control systems and the microcomputer control,
related to the mechanics in a way that he understands how the mechanical subsystem works, he knows how to describe the working modes and how to work in a team of specialists from the various professions,
related to electronics, actuators, sensors and automatic systems control,
related to economic, social and legal sciences, which provide the knowledge about entrepreneurship, organization, management and language skills.
The graduate is able:
to design the parts of the electromechanical systems,
to control the electromechanical systems and to implement them in industry,
to analyse and to solve the problems connected with design and service of control systems in automobile industry.
The graduate can find an employment in the various sectors of the industry – everywhere, where are used the systems of driving and automatization technology, mostly:
in providing the operation of modern electromechanical, electrohydraulic and other systems, especially continual production systems and finishing lines,
in modernizing the operations with the electromechanical system and applying the new control systems,
in the companies engaged in the construction of machinery, equipment, devices and production of their parts,
in assaying, service and development of these systems and complexes,
in automobile industry in designing and servicing the electronic control and diagnostic systems of automobiles.
The good basic knowledge from natural sciences and informatics enable to graduate easy and fast adaptation for the employment in the related fields.
The graduate of the study programme has preconditions for continuing the engineer studies in the study programme the Electrical Engineering or in the related fields at FEI TU of Košice or at other technical universities.

Major courses of study programme:
Department of Electrical engineering and Mechatronics (Katedra elektrotechniky a mechatroniky - KEM)
provides the education in the field of electrical engineering and mechatronics systems. The department is a workplace with the longest tradition at the faculty and with many contacts with the industrial practice. The scientific-pedagogical staff has 19 members including 6 professors, 6 senior lecturers, 5 lecturers and 2 researchers.

The power equipment for the renewable energy sources,
The design and the optimization of the special electric machines,
The electric drive control by the methods of artificial intelligence,
The electro-mechatronic systems control in industry,
The application of the programmable logic controller for the industrial systems control,

The modelling and the simulation of the electro-mechatronic systems.
International projects of the department:
The excursions of the students to the companies in the foreign countries (Austria, Germany).
The mobilities of the students organized under the CEEPUS projects: the universities in Maribor (Slovenia), Delft (Netherlands), and Leoben (Austria).
The organization of the important scientific conference Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (in the close cooperation with the university in Zagreb) with two-year interval, alternately in Slovakia and in Croatia.
