Elementary Education

A bachelor's degree is an undergraduate degree, generally taking three to five years of study to complete. Depending on a student's goals, this degree can serve as a jumping-off point for yet higher education, or as the final step towards starting one's career.

A common question for prospective bachelor's students who are interested in pursuing teaching or working with children is, “What is a Bachelor in Elementary Education?” Elementary education is a program focus that centers on preparing students to work at the primary school level. Coursework is different across programs, but will typically include courses in teaching theory. Most programs will also require students to put this theory into practice in elementary school classrooms. Students thus gain both crucial knowledge and the experience of implementing it, whether in the context of teaching, handling administrative tasks, or counseling.

There are several key advantages to this path of study. Graduates' background understanding of and experience with teaching increases critical thinking, problem solving skills, and confidence. In addition, the expertise afforded by these programs makes graduates able and ready communicators, both one-on-one and in groups, with children and adults alike. This strong communications foundation is a particularly crucial and transferable skill in today's job market.

Degrees in elementary education at this level vary greatly in cost from program to program. To attain specific figures regarding programs’ enrollment and registration costs, contact the schools directly.

One of the key benefits of a bachelor's degree in elementary education is the clear career path it sets up for graduates. The curriculum can provide knowledge and experience that prepares students for several highly rewarding positions within the education system, including teaching, tutoring, counseling, and school administration.
