Civil Engineering is one of the disciplines of professional engineering, dealing with the creation of civilian-used structures from conceptualization through to construction and maintenance. Both publicly-funded governments and private companies are involved in civil engineering.

Higher education in Cyprus is conducted in the five common international languages namely English, French, Portuguese, Turkish, Greek and Chinese. A bachelor's degree is given to students who fulfill the necessary requirements given by the college or university they are attending. The requirements include three to seven years of focus on a subject, typically referred to as a major or concentration.
