Microbiology

As a scientific area of study, microbiology is concerned with the study of bacteria, protozoa, fungi, and viruses. Studying microbiology will help one in understanding how microbes develop from their initial stages at the cellular level until their complex statuses. The study will also seek to explore the interaction of such microbes with other higher organisms. BSc Microbiology is an undergraduate degree program that is designed to ensure students have hands-on exposure to such microbes. The course has been structured to cover various aspects of these microbes with a keen attention on how they causes illness, how they help in spreading infections, and also on how to treat and prevent such diseases amongst population that have been caused by the microbes.

BSc Microbiology degree program is anchored on the broad discipline that is meant for the biology of the above microbes. The course has become popular in the recent days since the understanding of the wide functions of the microbes in causing diseases and even at their molecular level. The course will explore other positive aspects of bacteria and other microbes. The degree equips students with both the knowledge and skills to become qualified professionals in solving certain human disorders. This is through the cloning of eukaryotic genes. BSc Microbiology is a research-oriented degree course that mainly focuses on the pathogenic capacity of the organisms. The skills and professional knowledge acquired is highly marketable and applied throughout the world.

Bachelors in Microbiology. Earning acceptance into the graduate school of your choice feels good. Attending that graduate school free of charge, while also receiving a stipend, may seem too good to be true. It is true, though, and we have the graduates to prove it. In just the past few years, we've put students into funded Ph.D. programs at prestigious schools like the University of Wisconsin, Michigan Tech University, Rutgers and North Carolina. "I'm really pleased that our graduates with a passion for biology have had incredible success being accepted by some pretty high-powered programs," says Paul Pickhardt, Lakeland's natural sciences division chair. "If you pursue a masters or Ph.D. in biology, and you're applying to good programs, they will pay you to go to school." We can help you get there Whether your goal is to attend graduate school or land a job with your biology bachelor's degree, we will put you in position to succeed. We cover all the academic bases, guiding you through a wide array of classes ranging from genetics to molecular biology to chemistry and physics. Lakeland's signature approach to education involves hands-on teaching and interactive learning. Our biology program is a testament to that, with application-based lab work that breaks the mold. "In our environmental science courses, for example, our students go out in the field and do science as if they were actually professional biologists," says Pickhardt, a 2011 Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching award winner. "And across the curriculum, we try to... [-]

Bachelors in Microbiology. Bachelor in Biology Biology students at Waldorf College are trained in the methods of scientific inquiry as they also are grounded in the principles of biology. We accomplish this through traditional classroom work, laboratories and field trips, and through supporting experiences, such as internships, summer assistantships, and research. Why Study Biology? Biology is a story of survival. Biologists study living systems and ask questions about life, such as: What environmental and physiological factors affect the distribution and abundance of organisms on the earth? How do cells change as they age, and how does this affect the whole organism? How can genetics help answer questions about disease, adaptation, behavior, or extinction? How do matter and energy flow through ecosystems, and how is this flow being affected by human activities? To answer these and other questions, the Biology Department prepares students for a variety of professions and careers. All students enrolling in biology will begin working toward a B.A. degree, a program that gives students a strong preparation in biology with supporting courses in mathematics, chemistry, and physics. It also allows students to combine this program with over 20 credits from other academic departments, a flexibility that allows students to pursue a minor in computers, communications, business, or other programs. Such interdisciplinary biology degrees will greatly strengthen a graduate's marketability in the competitive workplace. The Biology Department is very proud of its track record. Many of our alumni now are physicians, nurses, physical therapists, optometrists, dietitians, veterinarians, biologists, park... [-]
