Part time Bachelors in Arts in Greater London in United Kingdom. Special Effects for Film & Television - BDes (Hons) This programme is for students who wish to combine design creativity, physical model making skills and cutting edge 2 and 3D computer modelling and prototyping in the creation of a variety of special effects for film, television and theatre. It offers a wide spectrum of opportunities in model design work, ranging from the highly accurate engineering approach of the product modeller, to the imaginative and inventive solutions of special effects designers/animators in advertising, film and TV. Although this programme focuses on the creation and use of physical assets, any modern large scale film or TV production will utilise both physical and digital effects. While you will specialise in your chosen area you will work across fields so that you develop an understanding of the overall production workflow and your contribution to it. You will be taught through lectures, seminars and tutorials and a great deal of the teaching underpins academic theory as applied to real-life practical scenarios. Special features The programme uses its strong industry links to great effect by bringing in guest speakers from industry, demonstrations of materials and processes from relevant companies, visits to trade events and the opportunity to be involved with graduate recruitment events. You will benefit from our pyrotechnical, make-up and animatronics design expertise and be able to study specialist modules in these areas. There are opportunities to attend European conferences and trade events. What you will learn The programme is made up of modules covering various aspects of designing and making models/sets and the use of digital compositing, animation and CG to create visual effects to be used in scenes within film, TV and commercials. Most of the coursework is project-based, and structured to simulate professional situations as much as possible. Starting with more directed, skills-based work, the student progresses to have increasing control over their own studies, ultimately proposing creative work which reflects their own strengths and interests. As well as developing visual ideas and practical skills, special effects artists have to be able to communicate verbally, and to be able to analyse and synthesise ideas in words. They have to be able to take an idea from a brief or script scene and analyse the most efficient way to execute the process in turning this vision into reality whether using live action practical effects or digital visual effects. Consequently, the programme includes an element of research, discussion, verbal presentation and written work. What you will study Level 1: Scholarship; 3D Physical Processes; Introduction to Visual Effects; Introduction to FX Modelmaking; Introduction to 3D CG; 3D CGI 2. Level 2: Employability and Entrepreneurial Skills; Advanced 3D Physical Processes; Multi Year Group FX Project; Portfolio; Visual Effects & Colour Correction; History of SFX/Animatronics/Make-up/Pyrotechnics. Level 3: Research; Advanced FX Modelmaking; Multi Year Group FX Project 2; Bigature Modelmaking; Major Project. Entry requirements 260 UCAS points from at least two A2-levels (or equivalent) in any subjects. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) including English and mathematics. You will be invited to attend an interview at which you will need to present a portfolio of your recent image-related or project-based work. The quality of the portfolio/interview is the primary basis on which applicants are selected; therefore special consideration will be given to applicants without the above qualifications who have a strong portfolio. If English is not your first language you will also normally need IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent). If you do not have the required English level, you can study English with us from IELTS 4.0 (or equivalent). [-]

There are many options out there, but many schools charge far too much money and don’t offer any real connection to the music industry itself. By choosing one of these schools, you run the risk of taking on career-crushing amounts of student debt for little or no return on your investment. And for someone trying to make it in the music business, that can halt your career before it ever starts. Don’t be that guy or girl. Don’t make the mistake of spending $25,000, $50,000 or $100,000 for a music school education that offers no real path to your future, and don’t make the even more serious mistake of taking on that kind of debt. Let’s be clear: your key to breaking into the music business doesn’t lie in a classroom with a bunch of other students, nor does it lie in some sort of online program that offers you no real feedback. Your path to success lies in the music industry itself—with the people who are actually DOING the work, who can show you the ropes and help you make your own connections. The Recording Connection offers this opportunity with our unique music business training program. Instead of placing you in an overpriced classroom, we place you as a working apprentice (extern) with a real music industry professional who is doing the job you want to be doing. As you follow a structured course curriculum, you’ll gain lots of real-world experience as you work alongside your mentor, and you’ll learn how to make the connections you need in order to succeed (and trust us—success in this business is ALL about connections). Best of all, you’ll gain this experience, knowledge and insider access for a FRACTION of what other music schools charge, so you can graduate with little or no debt and get on with your career. The music industry is a highly competitive field, and it’s the smart ones, the ones willing to think outside the box, who are the ones who rise to the top. For you, that begins with making choices about your education that will actually help your career without crushing you with debt. If you’re serious about beating out the competition to become a successful record executive or band manager, the Recording Connection is here to help! [-]

University of Roehampton: Bachelor of Dance Studies

International Studies Abroad

The program aims at intellectual and practical rigor in equal measure. [+]

Part time Bachelors in Arts in Greater London in United Kingdom. The program aims at intellectual and practical rigor in equal measure. Indeed, theoretical and practical inquiry are seen (and studied) as inter-related threads: the one area re-enforcing the other. Independence and self-motivation are emphasized from the outset, but those areas of the program that so require are intensively taught (for example, dance technique), and group co-operation and peer group support are also seen as particularly important qualities in relation to dance.
