What is a portfolio?
A portfolio of artwork is a collection of your best and most recent work—approximately 15-20 pieces. It is a crucial part of your application to professional art schools, most university art programs, and galleries. The portfolio helps someone evaluate your achievements and potential.
The following are some considerations for portfolio inclusion:
Drawings from observation only
Figure drawing from a live model
Exploration of media, including use of color
Complex compositional skills
Thoughtful execution of ideas
Note: The portfolio should also include examples of your best work in your specialty.
