Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology

Food Science and Technology involves the application of a variety of scientific disciplines to food manufacturing, which is the mass production of food products from raw animal and plant materials, utilizing principles of food technology. It is one of the largest industries in Thailand and entails the selection, preservation, processing, packaging, distribution, and use of safe, nutritious and wholesome food. Food Science and Technology majors learn chemistry, microbiology, structure, engineering, safety, and nutrition of food as it is processed, packed, distributed, stored and used and receive rigorous theoretical and practical training in the basic sciences related to food technology.

Career Opportunities

The food manufacturing industry in Thailand caters to both local and international markets, including ASEAN countries and the larger export markets of Europe, North America, and Japan. Consequently, there is a need for highly-trained technical personnel who can communicate well in English, which offers MUIC graduates a distinct advantage. Food Science and Technology majors, given their scientific and technical backgrounds, are well equipped to work in this industry or continue their studies towards a master’s or doctoral degree in either Food Science or other related areas.

Interested international candidates may apply 3 times a year through the Admission Section. Applicants must have already completed their high school education or equivalent to high school as issued by the Ministry of Education, Thailand.
