Program Description

The mission of the Waldorf University Education Department is to prepare engaging teachers to serve a community of learners. Through the Waldorf Teacher Preparation Program, students experience exemplary learning opportunities both on campus and in the area K-12 school districts. Additionally, Waldorf Teacher Education students learn to assume roles as leaders, advocates and servants within the professional setting and the community.

Waldorf University has a state-approved teacher education program through the Iowa Department of Education.

Degree Tracks

  • Elementary Education (K-6), Endorsements in K-12 coaching and K-8 English/language arts, math, music, reading, social studies, or special education. Concentrations in art, math, music, science, Spanish, special education, or theatre.
  • Secondary Education (5-12), Endorsements in biology, biology/chemistry, coaching, English, health, history, math, reading, speech communication/theatre, or special education.
  • Music Education, K-12 endorsement
  • Physical Education, K-12 endorsement, coaching endorsement/authorization

Minor Requirements

A minor in Education requires the completion of EDU 201, 202, 240; PSY 144, SPED 220; and 9-12 additional credits in EDU, MUE, PED 200+ and/or SPED courses. Courses with prerequisites need to be filled before or concurrently with enrollment.
