Introduction

This Bachelor is aimed at all students who love sport and who want to make their passion their profession. It allows you to become a sports journalist in 3 years. To become a sports journalist, you must first be a journalist. The 1st and 2nd years allow you to put in place the theoretical and practical bases of the profession. However, learning the sport starts from the first year with the discovery of the specificities but also the seriousness of the sport. In the 3rd year, the students switch completely to the sports journalism specialization: they already work exactly as journalists do in the field and in the newsrooms. At the EDJ, the sports journalist must be omnisports, therefore be interested in all sports, major and minor. He must also be a specialist in at least 3 sports. At the end of this training, students can work in any sports media. The pedagogy of the EDJ is unique: they learn their trade daily in the field, with the best sports journalists. To become a good sports journalist, some things cannot be taught: curiosity, resourcefulness. These qualities, our future journalists must have before entering the EDJ. But everything else can be learned! Culture, sports law, sports medicine… The profession of sports journalist is acquired through daily practice in the field. Classes take place in our establishment in Nice. All “general knowledge” courses are given in class, face to face with the teachers. When the course requires a particularly specialized teacher who is not present in Nice, the courses can take place by videoconference. Journalism and professional practice classes take place in the field or in radio and TV studios in small groups. They are organized as in a real newsroom, under the responsibility of professional journalists. At the EDJ, we call this the Real Media. Every morning, the students take part in an editorial conference on the news of the day. They must be force of proposal there. They then go on a report, interview athletes, coaches, supporters... Back in the editorial department, they synthesize, write and format their reports. The sports journalists correct the work of the students who train daily and thus learn, live, their future profession.
