Bachelor of Human Services - Behavioral Science


The Bachelor of Human Services/Behavioral Science Concentration program is designed to provide knowledge and skills in human/social services, psychology, and sociology. The curriculum has two options. One is a degree completion option for those with an associate's degree or higher. Both options can be completed 100% online.


Why Behavioral Science?


The Behavioral Science concentration prepares students to enter a career field related to a variety of service delivery agencies, helping professions, or counseling. In addition, it provides excellent preparation for pursuing a graduate degree in several disciplines, to include human services, social work, psychology, counseling, and others.


Coursework Details


The Behavioral Science concentration involves courses in social psychology, personality, abnormal psychology, and counseling psychology in addition to the Human Services core requirements in a convenient 8-week format.


General Education (36 semester hours) - courses in communications, statistics, humanities, fine arts, social and behavioral sciences, natural science, and Christian Studies. These are viewed as being the liberal arts component of a degree and are foundational to upper division courses.


Core Courses (33 semester hours) - courses in human services, social work, psychology, human development, sociology, management, business communications, and computer information systems.


Behavioral Science concentration (12 semester hours) - 300+ level courses in social psychology, personality, abnormal psychology, and counseling psychology.


Major Electives (9 semester hours) - 400-level and above courses in business, criminal justice, human services management, organizational leadership, psychology or sociology.


General Electives – courses that permit students to take additional work in subjects that interest them and that will be helpful in their careers. It is important to consult with an advisor when selecting electives.
