Program Description

The aim of the qualification is to provide prospective graduates with intellectual and theoretical knowledge as well as practical-workplace related managerial and leadership skills required for entry-level professionals in the public and private hospitality environment.

Promotion Requirements

Students are promoted to the next year of study if they have complied with all the subject prerequisites for the following year. Students must complete all outstanding modules of the previous year of study, before they may take modules from the next year of study.

From the first year of study to the second year:

  1. Hospitality Management 1A and 1B are prerequisites for Hospitality Management 2A and 2B.
  2. Hospitality Financial Management 1A and 1B are prerequisites for Hospitality Financial Management 2A and 2B.
  3. Food and Beverage Studies 1A and 1B are prerequisites for Food and Beverage Studies 2A and 2B.
  4. Rooms Division and Revenue Management 1A and 1B are prerequisites for Rooms Division and Revenue Management 2A and 2B.

From the second year of study to the third year:

  1. Hospitality Management 2A and 2B are prerequisites for Hospitality Management 3A and 3B.
  2. Hospitality Financial Management 2A and 2B are prerequisites for Hospitality Financial Management 3A and 3B.
  3. Food and Beverage Studies 2A and 2B are prerequisites for Food and Beverage Studies 3A and 3B.
  4. Rooms Division and Revenue Management 2A and 2B are prerequisites for Rooms Division and Revenue Management 3A and 3B.
  5. Organisational Development 1 is a prerequisite for Organisational Development 2.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum APS: 26 with Mathematics OR 28 with Mathematical Literacy 
  • English: 5 (60%+)
  • Mathematics: 4 (50%+)
  • Mathematical Literacy: 5 (60%+)

This degree serves the needs of students who aspire to move into leadership positions in the Hospitality Industry i.e. General Manager, Financial Manager amongst other positions in the industry
