Program Description

Bachelor Programme in Mechanical Engineering - Design and Industrial Innovation

If you are interested in the interaction between people, production, the environment and economy, then the Mechanical Engineering - Design and Industrial Innovation bachelor degree programme is for you. The programme starts in September.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering - Design and Industrial Innovation, you can take part in solving the technical and general problems of the future in the field of mechanical engineering. This is a discipline which also has to consider and respect the environment, society and economy.

The combination of technical competences in construction, design, thermodynamics, mechanics, and a broad knowledge of electrical theory, economics and management provide good opportunities for both specialist and managerial positions.

The Mechanical Engineering degree program is one that combines the theoretical knowledge of many different disciplines. You will be qualified both nationally and internationally to engage in practical problem-solving and development.

In the Mechanical Engineering degree program, you will learn about material properties, energy production and product development. You will be working with functionality, environment and aesthetics. The interaction between products and the people who use them are the main focus of the program.

You will obtain extensive technical knowledge of mechanics and thermodynamics and learn to use advanced 3D, IT-based computational tools to design and produce industrial products and plants.

Project work during the course will provide insights into, for example, dimensioning and designing gearboxes and energy systems, at the same time as providing experience with reciprocating engines, pumps, cranes, steering and many other engineering structures.

Studies at Copenhagen University College of Engineering are characterized by projects which are based on input from companies, project groups composed of students from among more than 25 countries and a commitment to hands-on learning. The institution counts 2300 students, 400 of whom are students from abroad, and some 250 faculty members. The first impression when you enter the long flat building is the great hall and canteen area. The interesting architecture is characterized by many squares where students can both socialize and study. Around the Copenhagen University College of Engineering there are works of art, and at the institution, there is a cultural society for both students and employees. It is easy to get around the University College, also for the handicapped, because of the many lifts and wide doorways. The Copenhagen University College of Engineering offers Bachelor degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT Engineering and finally Export Engineering. Some of the programmes are taught completely in English. The programmes are fixed at 3½ years, including a six month-traineeship in a Danish or foreign company. Except for the programme in export engineering which takes 4½ years, also including a six month-traineeship in a Danish or foreign company. The university college offers bachelor-level post-graduate courses through the Department of Continuing Education. Finally, the university college has an admission course for those who wish to attend engineering studies. The course is an introduction to engineering aimed at those with practical experience.
