The innovative programs offered by the Department aim to prepare students to become highly qualified professionals needed in industry, government, and academia. The Department of Computer Engineering was established in 1993 at the Faculty of Engineering. A four-year Computer Engineering program based on practice-oriented curriculum is offered. The undergraduate curricula are designed to enable graduates to identify, formulate, and solve problems using engineering principles. The practice-oriented programs encourage students to work on real-world problems and gain some work experience. Furthermore, it is expected that these programs supported by modern computer laboratories and advanced foreign language teaching facilities provide significant advantages for our graduates to work within a global economy and within a competitive environment. Apart from the fundamental courses such as calculus and physics the engineering courses included in the curriculum are logic design, microprocessors, computer architecture, programming languages, discrete structures, databases, operating systems, computer networks and computer graphics. Some elective courses including image processing, neural networks, e-commerce, geographical information systems also offered to enhance the curriculum.
